Izzy’s Bistro “Cape Canaveral’s Finest”

“Izzy’s Bistro” (named after owner Brigitte Krause’s granddaughter, Isabella) has been constantly gaining popularity with locals and tourists alike, since it’s opening just over a year ago. This newer bistro makes its home next door to Sunseed Co-op at 6615 N. Atlantic Avenue, just 1.3 miles north of 520, on A-1-A in Cape Canaveral. The Krause Family has completely remodeled the interior of Izzy’s dining areas, bar and kitchen. There is rich looking burgundy carpet and a matching burgundy and off-pink décor, as well as all new dark wood tables and chairs, high bar stools at the bar and at a large high top table, adjacent to the bar. Happy Hour is celebrated at their FULL LIQUOR bar Mon. – Fri. from 5-7 p.m. Stop by for a cocktail, a glass of wine or “Bring Your Own Stein” (BYOS) to receive 2-4-1 Warsteiner drafts.

Izzy’s Bistro serves dinner Monday through Saturday from 5 to 10 pm, but closes on Sundays. Fine wines from around the world and a variety of popular draft beers complements Izzy’s array of unique seafood appetizers, roasted duck spring rolls, chef-made soups, creative salads and enticing entrees of fresh seafood, pasta selections, chicken and pork entrees and of course, their top of the line Angus Steaks. Two German dishes, Original Weiner Schnitzel and Schnitzel Hunter Style grace the menu nightly and on Friday and Saturday nights you’ll be able to select from four other German specialties including Rouladen, Goulash, Schweinehaxe (pork shank) and Roasted Black Cherry Cognac Duckling.

Tuesday’s at Izzy’s are now branded “Tuna Tuesdays”! Each Tuesday you’ll be able to choose from ten unique tuna presentations. You’ll find a couple of tuna sushi rolls, a blackened tuna salad over fresh spinach with a soy vinaigrette, a blackened yellow fin tuna martini, pan-seared sesame tuna, pan-seared crunchy tuna, sesame or Espresso seared tuna entrée, bacon wrapped tuna entrée or Izzy’s Tuna Plank – Simply Tuna! Tuna entrees are seared to perfection and served with sticky rice and Asian vegetables. Izzy’s Tuesday Sampler Platter presents a sample of crunchy tuna, tuna Tartare, seared sesame tuna, a Florida roll and a Hamilton roll. Sounds like the way to start. So, if you’re into tuna, Izzy’s is the place, especially on Tuesdays! The Pan-Seared Tuna Entree is available nightly.

During the remainder of the week you’ll find pleasing appetizers like some of my favorites, the Smoked Salmon in Phyllo with caramelized red onion, fried capers and Dill crème Fraiche, char-grilled sea scallops in red curry lobster cream with crispy wonton, fried Calamari with Marinara and Izzy’s House Special Escargot.

If you’re a soup aficionado, I recommend Izzy’s Cioppino with lobster, shrimp, scallops, mussels and fish with Herb tomato broth, served with a large garlic crouton. If you’re a pasta fan try Izzy’s Fresh Herb Scampi with jumbo shrimp over fettuccini. If seafood is your downfall, go for the Shrimp & Herb Crusted Tilapia. It really is crusted with grilled shrimp and Parmesan & Herbs. Oh, so good! Fresh Catch is always a good choice too, as you can order it char-grilled, blackened, broiled or fried. If you’re a meat & potatoes kind of person, I recommend the House Special Bistro Filet Mignon encrusted (or not) with Bleu cheese and served with garlic mashed potatoes and fresh asparagus. Marvelous! New York Strip and Sirloin steaks are also served to your liking, as well as two chicken entrees and crusted pork tenderloin. When it comes to Izzy’s German fare, I can definitely recommend either of the Schnitzel entrees (Now Available Nightly). I have enjoyed both but definitely lean toward the Hunter-style because it’s served in a creamy mushroom sauce. On my very next visit to Izzy’s Bistro, I will surely go for the Roasted Black Cherry Cognac Duck. It sounds fantastic, doesn’t it?

To view Izzy’s Bistro menus go to www.IzzysBistroFlorida.com. Their web-site also offers online reservations, driving directions, banquet menu, wine list and more. Izzy’s Bistro is family-friendly too as they have a 4 item modestly priced Kid’s menu. Computer nuts can take along their laptops too, as Izzy’s offers Free Wireless Internet. If you have not already discovered Izzy’s Bistro, then go visit this elegant but casual establishment for dinner some evening soon. We think that you’ll be pleased with the quality of the food and the friendly service. For further information or reservations, please call (321) 783-4548. Bon Appetit
